Reviewing your goals mid-year.

Why should you take the time to review your goals mid-year?

Setting your 2023 goals back in January can seem like a long time ago now. Chances are you may have gone down a different route or gone off track completely with a new vision. By reviewing your goals halfway through the year will keep you focused on what you are hoping to achieve by the end of year regardless of any changes along the way.

Here are some tips to help you stay goal focused for the end of the year:

1.    Review your progress so far: Before setting end-of-year goals, take some time to reflect on the progress you've made toward your previous goals. Celebrate your accomplishments and identify areas where you could have done better. Be honest with yourself and acknowledge both your successes and your areas for improvement.

2.    Adjust your goals: Based on your progress review, adjust your goals for the rest of the year. This may mean modifying your existing goals or setting new ones altogether. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, and realistic. Rather than setting vague goals like "improve my skills," make them concise, such as "complete level x certification" or "apply for a promotion by the end of year”. This will help you stay focused and track your progress.

3.    Create an action plan: Once you have your updated goals, create a detailed action plan for achieving them. Break each goal down into smaller, manageable steps and set deadlines for each step. This will make the goal less daunting and help you stay motivated. Set deadlines for each milestone and celebrate when you reach them.

4.    Set yourself up for success: Once you've set your end-of-year goals, make a plan for achieving them. Identify the steps you need to take, the resources you'll need, and any obstacles you might face. Schedule time on your calendar for working on your goals and hold yourself accountable. It maybe worth speaking to your supervisor / manager for extra support and motivation to achieving your goals.

Reflect on your journey so far, don’t be put off if you come across any road bumps or go off track. Revisit your goals and remember why you started. Celebrate your successes along the way, no matter how small, and use them as motivation to keep pushing towards your goals.
